The USS Solace (AH-2) was built in 1897 in Virginia. Used during the Spanish-American War to ferry sick and wounded men from Cuba to the United States, the USS Solace served as a Atlantic Fleet Hospital Ship from 1909 until July of 1921. Dear Sir:
Today a copy of the K.S.N.S. Index with its Honor Roll was received. As one you have deemed worth to be included I want to thank you. It must have taken much work to have complied such a list when you have included men who were students twenty five and more years ago.
It has been of great interest to me to look through the names, recalling many I had not thought of or lost -track of for years.
It is with pride we read Pershing, John J as once a student at the K.S.N.S.
Capt. Arthur Willard now Commandant at the Washington Navy Yard is another the K.S.N.S. may well be proud to claim. You know in the Navy the next step for a Capt. is Rear Admiral.
Again thanking you for the copy of the Index I am.
Yours truly
Clifford E Henry
Better known in K-ville as Cliff Son of Ben
